Friday, January 22, 2010 Save the Badgers/Support Paula Lane Action Network day
Hosted by the Aqus Cafe, one of Petaluma's greatest community assets, supporters were able to dine in, take out and/or buy gift cards to support PLAN's work in wildlife habitat and corridor protection and open space preservation. There was a packed house for Old Jawbone, featuring Hannah Jern-Miller. Supporters from all over Sonoma County came to the Aqus to enjoy dinner and support PLAN and Save the Badgers. Twenty percent (20%) of the day's proceeds were donated to PLAN.
Saturday, December 12, 2009 Badger Hike at Carrington Ranch on Sonoma Coast
Sponsored by LandPaths: http://www.landpaths.org.
Go to Calendar of Outings & Events section, click on Browse All Outings & Events, then click on View Month of December's Events. Find December 12th Carrington Ranch Badger Hike outing.
Susan Kirks of the P.L.A.N. Board will assist LandPaths on this hike. Trail from entrance to Salmon Creek overlook is fairly easy.
Badger burrows and badgers have been seen at Carrington. While daytime sightings of badgers are rare, our past outings at Carrington Ranch have been exciting for finding burrows along the trail, foraging, badgers trails and more. The visuals of the ocean and open space are stunning.
Join Susan and LandPaths for the hike 12 Noon to 4 pm on Saturday, December 12th. (Driving time from Petaluma and Cotati west to Sonoma Coast is about 25 minutes.)
Saturday, June 6, 2009 P.L.A.N Homemade Lasagne Dinner
The 4th annual fundraiser at the historic Petaluma Women's Club was a success! As petaluma360.com encouraged, "Eat Lasagna and Save Open Space." And eat lasagna our guests did! Plus pre-dinner appetizers, then salads, rolls, desserts and after-dinner coffee. Our beverage center featured Benziger family wines, along with other locally produced wines.
Except for one grilled veggie lasagna and a no meat-no cheese pasta tray, all lasagnas, appetizers and desserts were homemade. Diners enjoyed the incredible talent of Gem Metal Whistle (Hannah Jern-Miller and Warren Mann) during the evening. Our raffle prize winners seemed happy, and shopping in the silent auction area was active.
We are, as always, grateful to the community for supporting our continuing work in protecting and preserving rural land, open space, wildlife habitat and movement areas, and also advocating for sustainable agriculture.
And a BIG thanks to our farms, ranches, businesses and individuals who donated to our meal and silent auction:

May 9, 2009 P.L.A.N. in the Human Race
P.L.A.N. participants joined thousands of walkers, runners and walking dogs on May 9th for the annual countywide charity walk/run event. In our 3rd official year in this event, P.L.A.N. raised $2,000. A portion of this will be contributed to The Human Race organization.

This year, P.L.A.N. walkers took both the 3K and 10K route. Our walkers wore hand-designed art T-shirts made by P.L.A.N. volunteers. A heartfelt thank-you to all supporters who donated online to our Team Page or who mailed donations toward our effort.
The Human Race is a wonderful event bringing nonprofits and charities together to help many people and causes. P.L.A.N.'s focus is fundraising for the Paula Lane Open Space Preserve and our continuing efforts for preservation of open space, rural land, wildlife habitat and helping to create sustainable agriculture for local food production. It is important to us to maintain our grassroots nature while we focus on saving roots of grass!
April 18, 2009 P.L.A.N. works together on Rebuilding Together Petaluma Day
Rebuilding Together Petaluma Day was a big day for the community and many homeowners who received housing rehab and repairs. PLAN's team helped build a fence and repair a porch for a senior citizen on the West Side of Petaluma. We were honored to have a team of high school students doing community service, mothers and sons, couples, and individuals who knew how to protect plants, nail boards and paint!
Thank you to all who helped on the Rebuilding Together Day Project, sponsored by Marshall White Construction, a Green builder. Our House Captains, Patrick Schafer of the PLAN Board of Directors, and Roger Mollison of Marshall White Construction, were incredible team leaders who did prep work in the 2 weeks preceding Rebuilding Day and really came through on Rebuilding Day to manage our skilled workers and enthusiastic volunteers to complete our project. It was a great day!
