Our 3rd annual fund-raiser at the Petaluma Women's Club was a success. We had a full house, raised about $3000, and a good time seemed to be enjoyed by all.
As we continue this new tradition in our community, we see new faces each year, mixed with long-time lasagna lovers, and are pleased to see the support for P.L.A.N.'s conservation efforts and cooperative work with other nonprofits in Sonoma County.
Heidi Matthiessen worked her culinary magic on the lasagna again this year, along with veggie-lasagna chefs Katie O'Connor, Carlotta Falzone-Robinson and Karen North. This year, we also received a donation of two vegetable lasagnas from "Wild Greens" vegetarian restaurant in Plaza North Shopping Center in East Petaluma. Katie O'Connor, Pat Mason, Julian Podbereski and Lorie Melling served up lasagna to our diners, and Emily Jern-Miller and Molly Ginkel-Rubardt ably monitored salads, tables, beverages and general happiness. The Norths and Williams did everything from seating and serving to washing dishes. The Matthiesen family managed the wine and soda bar. (Wine donated by Armagh Vineyard).
Entertainment was provided by Ken Miller (rockin' blues piano), Hannah Jern-Miller (guitar, duos with Ken Miller and folk-rock-original creations), Patrick Thomas (original jazz piano creations), and Lorie Melling's humorous monologue relevant for old-time Petaluma.
Susan Kirks greeted guests at the door and helped with serving and cleanup. Patrick Schafer did generally everything from setup to providing extra dessert plates to cleanup. Nan Moon and Paul Selinger provided setup for the dinner service, silent auction support, and greeting of guests. And, of course, the Women's Club staff and their experience offered a quality of Petaluma history and tradition that keeps P.L.A.N. coming back to the club for our events.

May 10, 2008 P.L.A.N. in the Human Race
P.L.A.N. participants joined thousands of walkers, runners and walking dogs on May 10th for the annual countywide charity walk/run event. In our second official year in this event, P.L.A.N. raised almost $2,000. A portion of this will be contributed to The Human Race organization.
This year, P.L.A.N. walked in the 3K route. We had such a great time and the energy among all participants was so positive, we decided, next year, the 10K! So, to next year and a heartfelt thank-you to all supporters who donated online to our Team Page or who mailed donations toward our effort.
The Human Race is a wonderful event that brings nonprofits and charities together to help many people and causes. P.L.A.N.'s focus is preservation of open space, wildlife habitat and historic resources, and creating activities to enhance well being of those who enjoy the preservation.
April 19, 2008 P.L.A.N. sponsers Rebuilding Together Petaluma Day
Rebuilding Together Petaluma Day was a big day for the community and many homeowners who received housing rehab. PLAN's project included about 40 volunteers from local schools, Tres Hombres restaurant in the Theatre District and Summit State Bank. Landscaping, fence building, and deck replacement were just a few of the responsibilities for the PLAN project. The experience offered team building and opportunities for new friendships. The PLAN team was led by Board member Patrick Schafer.
